The paper, titled "The Environmental Benefits of Repurposing Tubular Steel from North Sea Oil and Gas Fields" will be presented by Professor Rob Holdway and Mark Dowling of Giraffe Innovation, along with Iain Bell, UK Tubular Sales & Purchasing Manager for John Lawrie Tubulars. The paper fits nicely with the theme of this year’s event which is focused on the energy transition and collaboration in reaching the industry’s collective net zero goals.

Following the production of a life cycle assessment in 2020, John Lawrie Tubulars can now show that for every tonne of steel tubulars it repurposes, there is a CO²e saving of over 97% when compared to the production of new prime steel. This goes a long way to supporting net zero and sustainability goals for both of the industries the company services – oil and gas and construction piling.
